Bizarre Situations

Posted by slevin Jan. 5, 2009 @ 1:36 PM EST

Basically I've decided to write a bunch of short stories based on bizarre situations that come into my head. None of these stories will be related in any way. Here's the first one, enjoy!

Chapter One: False Ferocity

It was a dull winter's day as Johnny trudged home from yet another misery-ridden day in Grudgen Academy, his legs aching and his head in bits. The laps he'd been running had taken their toll on him, as had the hassle he had received on the way home from school. The self-proclaimed Phoenix Grove gang had jumped him and repeatedly banged his head off of the ground and ran off before he had the chance to fight back. Johnny could easily smash bottles of beer over the top of his head without any pain, and the Phoenix Grove gang weren't the strongest people in the world, so Johnny Didn't even have a bruise.
That's not to say it didn't hurt.
Johnny was tired and angry. He knocked on the door and his father opened it.
"Where the fuck were you?" His dad, despite being absolutely livid, was very relieved to see him alive. Johnny was about to tell his dad about the ambush, but something made him pause. Maybe it was the anger in his dad's voice maybe it was the shame of being jumped by a weak bunch of 15-year-olds, but whatever it was it was certainly there.
"Never mind."
"Don't you take that tone with me!" His dad was furious now, and no longer cared about what had happened his son. This was about authority now. Johnny ran upstairs and a few seconds later, the door of his bedroom slammed.
******************************

Johnny's dad knocked on the door of his son's bedroom. "Son?"
There was no reply. The worried father persisted. "I phoned the police. I was worried, okay?"
Still no reply.
frustrated, Johnny's dad walked back downstairs to have a beer. He would try again later when his son was in a better mood.
Johnny was fuming on the other side of the door. He couldn't tell his dad about all of the people who didn't respect him in school, he would just laugh and tell Johnny to stand up for himself, and therein lay the problem. It wasn't that Johnny wasn't strong enough to stand up for himself, it was deeper than that. Every time Johnny fought back against people, he ended up seriously injuring them. If only he had a way of deterring people...

To be continued in chapter two.
